Sanborn Suspended, Zorbas Not Coaching Lancers

The world of Londonderry basketball is being shook up prior to the start of the 2009-2010 season. Lancer swingman Matt Sanborn will sit out the first 6 games of the upcoming regular season.

And according to Londonderry Athletic Director Howard Sobolov, "Jim Zorbas is on a one year leave of absence. His assistant Jeff Gustavson will coach the team this year."

Sanborn's suspension is due to an off-court issue. Londonderry will miss his experience, toughness and outside shooting to start the year. They'll still have Sanborn for the majority of the season and the tournament, but this will almost certainly affect their playoff seeding.

The Lancers will also sorely miss the guidance of Zorbas this season. He is known for getting the most out of his players, and as one of the better coaches in Class L.
