Goodridge and Floras Are Not Going Anywhere

3/19/10
Tim Goodridge has informed me he has no plans whatsoever of stepping down as head coach of the Merrimack High boys basketball team. Goodridge also squashed the rumor that Dimitri Floras is leaving Merrimack.

"He might be looking at prep schools, but if that happens it wouldn't be for another couple years" said Goodridge. "I've already talked to him and his parents about this" he went on.

So to recap what we have learned in the past few days...Goodridge will remain Merrimack's coach. Dimitri Floras will be playing for Merrimacki next year. Joe Kegler is stepping down as Bedford's coach to take a teaching job in Portugal. And Harry Knowles is not going to UConn, instead he will likely be doing a post-grad year next year at somewhere like Tilton to play baseball.

  1. Merrimack can have him. this was the best supporting cast he's going to have. So if he's naive enough to think he can win a championship by himself, then go ahead and stay it's his loss. Prep would be a great option but BG is pretty much prep level education wise and for much less money. Not to mention that he would without a doubt win a championship

  2. That is a load of squash. BG was the SUPPOSE to win this year but yet did not. BG has just as much of an oppertunity next year but that wont say Merrimack wont with some upcoming size and maybe a good freshman if he is able to step up. From what I have heard Gendons little brother is the real deal. Some have said he may be Varisty material and ready to contribute as a freshman.

  4. I do not know if I would be so quick to say that if this kid goes to BG he will win a championship. If memory serves me correctly another Catholic High School Class L team about 5-6 years ago Trinity of Manchester was loaded up with AAU All-stars and four Division One Scholarship players. Trinity made a deal with the devil, Frankie "Fur Coat" Alosa who recruited his AAU team to go to Trinity, and while they had great success they never won a Title. I have not seen BG play yet I was unable to make it to the semi final game and thought I would be able to see them in the Finals as they seemed like heavy favorites against Winnicunnet. Throw caution to the wind the players who looks good in the layup lines do not always win the big one. Winni is proving that this year. They have out-hustled everyone and have the record to prove it.

  6. Comparing BG to Merrimack is ridiculous...honestly, if you have the smarts, ability and economic viability to attend BG why wouldn't you? There is zero downside.
