  1. Jeremy, I like the balance. Team #2 might have the edge. The trio of Spirou, Green and Holder might be tough, although Madol and O'laughlin ain't bad either. The wildcard might be Ben Hill. Nobody from down "south" really knows what to expect from him. Should be a fun game to watch.

  2. Dont you think some of these kids will want to be at the Granite games in Concord?

  3. Doesn't this conflict with the Granite Games Sunday March 21st in Concord?

  4. All of these players RSVP'd back to me saying they are coming to this game. I don't think they would have done that if they would rather be in Concord. The Granite games are just for seniors. This game is for freshmen, sophomores and juniors. Go to Concord and watch some of your friends play in a game and get exposure. Go to this event and play with the other top players in your class and get exposure for yourself. The way the schedule works out this is the only day this event could be held.

  5. I've already stated this before, but this was the only day this event could be held. The following weekend AAU tourneys start, and most of the players playing in this event wouldn't be able to go. the Granite games are for seniors. This event is for freshmen, sophomores and juniors. All of the players playing in this event RSVP'd saying they were coming. If they'd rather be in Concord they wouldn't have RSVP'd saying they were coming to this. If they went to the Granite games they would sit and watch as other players get exposure, or they could go to this event and actually play in it and get exposure for themself.

  6. So you dont think any under classmen will make all-state? Concord is where they are suppose to be on that day.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Where they're supposed to be? Are you kidding me? These kids are choosing themselves which event to go to. I'm not making them do anything, I just sent out the invitations. I know that the games themself are just for seniors. And my event is just for freshman, sophomores and juniors.

  8. Last year maybe half of the players that were underclassmen showed for the awards in COncord. It is a nice thing they do presenting them to the players but not something they should worry about if they do not make it.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Jeremy, you might be missing the point. It's not that the underclassmen would prefer to sit and watch the seniors play, it's just that if any of them make the all-state team, it would be a nice thing for them to get recognized in front of their peers for that honor. I'm not sure all the players were aware of that potential conflict when they RSVP'd to you.

Why can't you just hold the Juniors game earlier in the day, so they can play in the All-Star game and then drive over to Concord to attend the Seniors event/All State ceremony at 4:55 pm? You would just need to move the schedule around a little bit.

  10. The RAC is the only place this event could happen because of the cost of renting the gym would be too much at other places. And there is a volleyball tournament at the RAC that doesn't end until 5. Trust me, I've looked into all of the options already.

    ReplyDelete
  11. well, tell the NHIAA to not bother to do the awards ceremony since virtually every all state player that is not a senior will be at the RAC

    ReplyDelete
  12. when are you going to post the other teams for the all star games? i am interested in the girls teams....thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  13. could you post the schedule for the all star games again?

    ReplyDelete
  14. I will post rosters for the other NH games over the next few days. Here's the schedule:

    5:30 pm
    NH Girls Underclassman
    NH Boys Underclassman

    7:00 pm
    MA Girls
    NH Boys Juniors
    MA Boys Underclassman

    8:30 pm
    NH Girls Juniors
    MA Boys Juniors

  15. I wouldn't even respond to these post Jeremy. People have a choice. It's up to them. Period. You go out of your way to bring youth sports news to the masses.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Are there coaches for the All Star teams?

    ReplyDelete
  17. ok, so any NH juniors who make all-state can collect their award in Concord at 5 pm, and then get over to Plaistow for the 7 pm start. Shouldn't be a problem. And don't worry, the only other underclassman who has a shot at all-state is Dmitri.

    ReplyDelete
  18. 6:37 , you are obviously not an all state player or you would not say that.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I went toe the Granite game last year and JL who won player of the year was not even there ,, Jake Nelson was and a few other JR but not all that made all state anyways.

Though as a fan I would like the chance to see

    ReplyDelete
  20. curtis arseneault of berlin should be there

    ReplyDelete
  21. Arsenault is a sophomore and will be playing in the NH Underclassman Boys All-Star Game. The rosters for that game will be released in the coming days...

    ReplyDelete
  22. Is there an admission fee to these games? Will there be rosters with jersey numbers available as well?

    ReplyDelete
  23. Why is there only one game for the Mass girls? wont these teams be too big for each girl to get enough play time? Why not have 2 games with 7-8 girls per team?

    ReplyDelete
  24. We wanted to have a Mass. girls junior and a Mass. girls underclassman game. Couldn't get enough players for 2 games. I have 12 Ma. girls juniors and 8 underclassman coming to the event. That's 20 and just enough for 1 game.

Yes, there will be rosters with jersey numbers available. And admission is $5. Free for the players that are playing in the event.

  25. jeremy,
Great job putting the Jr All Star Tourney together. I'd ignore the whiners about the conflict w/the Concord event. The bottom line is kids would rather play with/against the best then sit around waiting for an award. The whiners are the parents/grandparents who want the recognition - not the kids. Play ball - have fun!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Jeremy,

Who will be coaching the teams?

    ReplyDelete
  27. I agree - Most kids are 'forced' to go to these ceremonies by one adult or another. (Parent/coach)

    ReplyDelete
  28. conflicts happen - people make choices - really the kids want to play and thanks for the opportunity.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I have a feeling that Lombard will be the wildcard over Ben Hill, if anyone saw the game he played @ Bow, you will know what I am talking about.

    ReplyDelete
  30. You know I think it is great to give these kids some exposure and a chance to play against the best but it is too bad that we had to make this a competitive thing instead of a fun day for the kids to get to play a fun game at the end of the season. I think the sad part about athletics in general for these kids is they always feel like they have to perform well and the something is riding on the game. My son will be there trying to have a good time, meeting new players and making new friends. If he plays well great, if he doesn't great. Our thought process is this is a chance to play for fun before getting serious again next week for a long AAU season. Have Fun guys these games are more for memories than they are recruitment and proving your manhood.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Kids want to compete. Who is to say you cannot have fun and compete? Kids have more pressure in their social lives than playing ball most of the time. I was recently there and I would not worry so much about that aspect of the game.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Lombard will be even better now that he might actually get to touch the ball on offense. A good coach can make such a difference.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Very well put 2:35 PM post. Very well put.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I know what you mean 4:04 I am young myself but I guess with these kids most are just finishing the stress of the playoffs and many are getting ready to get right back at it with AAU. A game with no worry of rankings and trash talk would have been more enjoyable at this time that a camp with coaches and ranking systems in the gym. I respect what your saying all of the better kids love the game or they would not be at this level but a good old fashioned pick up game would have been fine with me.

    ReplyDelete
  35. 12:36, i agree with you to an extent, the reality is for these kids, every opportunity for exposure and development has to be taken serious, but heres the kicker, just because every opportunity has to be taken serious, does not mean it has to be stressful and not fun, that comes down to parenting and coaching, and instilling the "mentality" from the begining that, know what how serious you decide to take a sport, its still gotta be fun, otherwise it will ruin the way you play the game. "Work hard, take it serious, but relax and have fun" thats what i tell me kids all the time. Take the game for what it is and you can be as successful as your potential will take you, no more, no less.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Why the Pelham coach didnt let lombard touch the ball? Not sure what that comment ment.

    ReplyDelete
  37. All-State picture and awards at 5:30 in Concord.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I don't think there is a conflict. It's exactly an one hour drive from NHTI to RAC in Plaistow. Here are All State times for underclassmen. They can't get this state recognition and these memories back, I think the boys should try and do both. It will make for a great day!

  39. Because all the offenses they ran were for Spirou. The person is saying Lombard didn't get enough touches as he should've during the season. The playoff game, from what I heard, Spirou played very poor and didn't shoot as much and Lombard actually got a lot of looks and converted.

    ReplyDelete
  40. The NH Junior Boys game is at 7. The NH Underclassman Boys game is at 5:30 at the RAC. However the junior game is the one that has a bunch of all-state players. There are only about 2-3 players playing in the underclassman game (freshmen and sophomores) who are likely to make all-state. Dimitri, Arsenault in Class M and maybe Gilligan will get honorable mention.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Jeremy....When and where will the Mass Boys teams (both juniors and underclassmen) be announced?

    Thanks

    ReplyDelete
  42. No, he didn't. Just Dimitri I believe. Lots of juniors on the Class I team.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Other than the plays for Spirou Im not sure they did whole bunch else on offense. They always look lost. They should have given lombard and others the ball more in motion offenses. It would have made Spirou so much better.

    ReplyDelete
  44. The rest of the teams will be announced on my recruiting site, the Mass & NH High School Basketball Report. http://www.mass-nh-highschoolbasketballreport.blogspot.com

    ReplyDelete
  45. Who will be coaching these kids?

    ReplyDelete
  46. Jeremy,

Any reason why you are not answering the post about who will be coaching the all star teams?

    ReplyDelete
  47. I am working on getting some coaches for the games. Kevin Gibbs from BG will be coaching in the NH Girls Underclassman game, I'm working on getting others. My first priority however, was getting players. I wanted to get the rosters filled because without them there's no event.

  49. Jeremy,
Are you gonna have game programs with the kids info/jersey number?

    ReplyDelete
  50. Yes, we will have programs with rosters, info and jersey numbers for all 7 games.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Jeremy, I am curious to know what player you think will be a surprise player in the Junior boys game? After hearing several people say Ben Hill, I personally say Mike Lombard, but I would like to hear your input.

    ReplyDelete
  52. I think another kid to watch in this game is O'Connor. Being a Class M player, and a player from up north, he doesn't play with or against most of these kids who are from the south. So it's tough to know what to expect from him, I think he'll have an impact on the game, though.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Mike Lombard could have been a bigger asset to his coach and team mates if he kept his toes off the line, dang it!
