Stevens is Done for the Year

3/5/10
You hate to see this happen to such a good kid, but the verdict is on on the knee injury to Trinity junior wing Zach Stevens. Zach has informed me that he has suffered a torn ACL, and will miss the rest of the season.

The injury was sustained on Tuesday night when the Pioneers played at Pinkerton. Stevens went to the basket and came down hard and awkwardly on the knee. It happened in the second quarter of the game, and Stevens did not return to the game.

This will greatly decrease Trinity's chances at a second straight Class L championship, since he is such a key member of the team. But more importantly, Zach is a nice young man, a very hard worker and he loves the game of basketball. So this is melancholic news to have to report.

"I have surgery in April and I can't play full basketball until next September" says Stevens.

Good luck to Zach with the surgery and rehab. Hopefully he returns next season at 100%. And in the meantime I'm sure his teammates will try extra hard to win the title for him.

  7. Zach...you are a very focused and special young man who will overcome this. The mind and the will to achieve a goal are incredibly powerful. You have that passion for the game and the WILL to succeed and achieve your goal of getting back on the hardwood. I am looking forward to seeing you back next season and I WILL be seeing you playing again...without a doubt!

  8. Yo Stevens, my names Tommy Carver i played football for BG last year and was finally having a good year after working hard to play. And i had the same injury on halloween. I missed senior night, the exeter game, and our championship run after woking hard for 3 years to see the field. It is a major disappointment when something like this happens but trust me things happen for a reason you'll get stronger and come back. It really sucks believe me i know and it really isnt the end of the world. Be there for your team in the playoffs and enjoy the run you will be back.
I didnt have surgery until february and i am making tons of progress it comes easy to the kids who work hard good luck man

  9. I agree with Tommy, be strong, work hard and don't ever give up. My Son had surgery last April torn meniscus, torn patella, had a ligament and a cyst removed. It was the hardest thing he's ever gone through, he lost his identity because basketball is his life. Rehab 6 days a week all summer and most of the fall and he is back. Still has struggles and there are still things he can not do but with time he will get stronger. Hang in there and know are prayers are with you for a speedy recovery!

  11. Hey Zach, this is Mr. Lombard. I wish you all the best and hope you have a speedy recovery. It may make you feel better to know you just got Moose in trouble. Instead of texting you at 1:58 on a Monday afternoon he should have been paying attention to his school work. In fact, he may be in recovery next to you after having a boot surgically removed from his arse!
