Jozokos Going Prep

With all of rumors swirling around the granite state about different kids from the NHIAA possibly transferring to prep schools, it's fitting that the next player who is officially on the move is one that was not previously being mentioned. Tate Jozokos, from Kingswood Regional High School, will be transferring to the Governor's Academy this fall. This has been confimed to me by Tate's father, Matt. Tate, who is currently a freshman at Kingswood, is a 3 sport star and one of NH's best athletes.

As a freshman at Kingswood this year, Jozokos was the starting quarterback for the football team, the starting point guard on the basketball team, and he is also one of the star players on the lacrosse team. With this move Kingswood High and the NHIAA lose one of it's top athletes (not to mention one of the coolest names!).

However for Jozokos it is a good move. Lacrosse is probably his best sport, and Governor's has an outstanding LAX program. It will also be much better for him academically. Jozokos plans on playing football, basketball and lacrosse at the Governor's Academy.

Kingswood will surely suffer in all three of those sports without Jozokos in the lineup. In basketball they had a very good season this past year, especially compared to how much they struggled previously. Kingswood was carried all year by their top four players: Kevin Smithwood, Dylan Lovering, Jozokos and Kohl Meyers. Next year Meyers will be the only one back as Jozokos is going prep and Smithwood and Lovering are graduating. It will likely be a long year for Kingswood boys hoops coming up.

Best of luck in the future to Tate. He will definitely be missed at Kingswood.

  3. Kingswood has long suffered because of private school transfers. This years basketball team would have been completely different had they not lost two potential starters from last year to prep schools and countless other contributers to Brewster Academy. Guess they'll have to stomach another lose.

  6. My son left NH high school ball and went Prep last year (would have been his senior year, they had him repeat his junior year). And it was the best decision we could have made. Higher caliber football, better coaching, more exposure. Now he's got way more contacts from colleges than he did last year. It was tough to send him away a year early, but a great decision.

  10. it will be a real stretch for Burt to play for Merrimack. He should have selected a D3 school if he really wanted to play basketball.

  15. Governors School is a great education and the campus is incredible but the athletics is not that big of a step up. I play with a kid in AAU that goes to St Mark's and they beat them by 70 points this year.

  16. Basketball might not be their strong sport. But like I mention above Governor's is very good at Lacrosse and that is probably Jozokos' best sport.

  17. St. Mark's has a great program. I do no think there are many teams in New Hampshire that would come within 70 points of this team (take a look at the roster and where the players are going to college). How would Kingswood fair against this team? Govs basketabll is on the rebound. Coach William's plays a great style of ball and has the program going in the right direction.
