Mulvey Staying at Portsmouth

Jim Mulvey is not going anywhere. There were some rumors that Mulvey would step down as the head coach of the Portsmouth boys basketball team. Many folks thought he was just there to coach his son John, and once he graduated in 2009 that he would step down. But Mulvey stayed on last season and will stay on this season as well.

According to Portsmouth High Athletic Director Rus Wilson, "Coach Mulvey is definately returning and is currently running a lot of open court time for the youth of Portsmouth and will run the PHS basketball camps this summer."

This is very good news for the Portsmouth basketball program. Mulvey is one of the top coaches in Class I. He led the Clippers to the Class I title in 2009. And last year he did a very nice coaching job by leading the team to the Class I semi-finals where they took eventual champs Milford to overtime.
