Benson Steps Down as Goffstown Baseball Coach

According to Goffstown High Athletic Director Steve Fountain, "Matt Benson, after 15 years of coaching at GHS both as a head coach and assistant chose to resign at the end of the season to focus on becoming a school principal. He will not be coaching next spring."

The Good: Benson wins Class L Coach of the Year and lead the Grizzlies the the #2 seed in the Class L Tournament in his last year at the helm.

The Bad: Goffstown was upset by #15 seed Pinkerton in the first round of the playoffs when many folks were picking them to win it all.

Benson did however lead Goffstown to its first Class L title, and he also won Coach of the Year back in 2003. In addition to coaching baseball at Goffstown, Benson is also an assistant coach for the Trinity High boys varsity basketball team.
