EBPS Game Recap - Girls 2012 Game
On Sunday, November 21 the best high school basketball players in NH were on display in Plaistow for the Eastern Basketball Preseason Showcase. I am in the process of re-capping all 8 of the event's games. Next up is the Girls 2012 Game.
Pretty much every good player in the class was playing in this game. The teams were also even, and this all made for a tough, hard fought game throughout. Both squads played excellent defense - no basket came easy. The result was a low scoring game. The White Team jumped out to an 18-8 1st quarter lead, and they won it 51-42.
Leading the way for them was Jane White with 12 points (that led the game so it just shows how balanced the scoring was on both teams). Other standouts on the White Team were Ashley Giampetruzzi and Lia Nawn. For the Black Team, Emily Rose (pictured above) led the team with 11 points, while Ashley Clough, Anna Sullivan and Katie Stopera also played key roles.
This class is loaded with talent, and this game also had a Shooting Stars feel to it. The NE Shooting Stars won the Division II 15U AAU National Championship this summer, and 8 members of that team were playing in this game (7 of them were on the White Team).
Game's Standout Players
Jane White, Souhegan HS – In a game with a lot of talent that was evenly matched (no player scored more than 12), White stood out more than the rest. She is an extremely quick guard who flat out played the game faster than anyone else. White was able to play at that speed while staying under control, and also went hard to the basket all game. This resulted in a number of trips to the free throw line where she went 9/9 en route to a game-high 12 points.
Ashley Clough, Keene HS – The 5’10” Clough is an extremely versatile player. She has the size and strength to score in the post and rebound against other bigs. But she also showed the ability to handle the basketball and knock down the outside shot. Clough is a very smart player who not only scored and rebounded effectively in this game, but also did all of the little things well.
Emily Rose, Timberlane HS – Rose played extremely well in this game, both on offense and defense. The 5’10” forward had an inside game but also displayed an equally impressive face-up game. Rose was able to face-up from the 3 point arc and either drill the three ball or put it on the floor and go by people. She was also solid on the boards.
Ashley Giampetruzzi, Manchester Central HS – This was a close game throughout, but when the White Team took over it was Giampetruzzi who as instrumental in the 2nd half as she was not only starting the break but finishing on it as well. The 5’8” guard was very tough to contain off the dribble, and she was always attacking the basket, especially in transition.
Amra Elezovic, Manchester Memorial HS – Another versatile player who was able to play inside and out. Elezovic is 6’0” but has the skill set of a guard. She has the size and quickness to be able to guard all 5 positions on the floor, and offensively she can shoot it or put it on the floor effectively. Elezovic only had 3 points on the game, but her upside was apparent to everyone in the gym.
Other Stock Risers
• Lia Nawn (Trinity) plays the game at a fast pace and with confidence, nailed outside shots and also scored going to the rim.
• Brianna Stoyle (Goffstown) for a 6-footer, Stoyle showed some excellent quickness and athleticism, especially when she got a steal at half court and took it in for the score.
• Katie Stopera (Hollis-Brookline) excelled in transition game, unselfish 2-guard who set up her teammates for scores just as well as she set up herself for open looks.
• Anna Sullivan (Winnacunnet) Tough as nails point guard who played as hard as anybody and also wasn’t afraid to go inside and mix it up on the boards with the bigs.
• Rebecca Arnone (Campbell) physical forward who finished strong and rebounded well inside. Also an underrated passer.
Allie Mahan (Dover) tough guard who drove hard to the rim and showed a good handle.
Kerry White (Windham) physical post player had some smooth moves on the block.
Colleen Taylor (Lebanon) tough wing player who had a nice finish in the 4th quarter and played solid defense.

Katie Prothro (Bedford) 5'8" wing player showed a good handle and was strong with the ball.
Gretchen Anderson (St. Thomas) the versatile Anderson was tough on the boards.
Ceara McNamara (Souhegan) McNamara was a good inside presence for the White Team.
Mariah Bonneau (Pinkerton) long and athletic forward who ran the floor well.
Ari Dimou (Manchester Memorial) the explosive Dimou excelled in transition and played hard all game.
Savanna Stanley (Bow) athletic guard who can play the 1 or the 2 was effective at pushing the ball up court to speed up the pace of the game.
Katelyn Roeser (Nashua North) point guard who did a nice job of distributing the basketball and playing tough defense.
Aviana Morrison (Winnacunnet) Morrison showed a good all around skill set and didn't force anything.
Bethany Kalliel (Derryfield) Kalliel went strong to the rim also played unselfishly.
