Five Finalists Announced for Sports Radio WGAM “The Game” Ninth Annual Mr. Football Award


(December 8, 2010) – Absolute Broadcasting, LLC, owners of Sports Radio WGAM “The Game” AM-1250 in Manchester and AM-900 in Nashua, have announced the five finalists for their ninth-annual Friday Night Lights “Mr. Football” award ceremony – that will take place on Wednesday, December 15th at the Hilton Garden Inn in Manchester, NH at 5:00 pm.

Modeled after the High School Heisman Trophy, the Mr. Football Award recipient is determined by votes cast by WGAM’s Friday Night Light’s staff as well as by other members of the New Hampshire media. Past winners have been Jeff Farrington of Souhegan High School in 2002, Mike Boyle of Plymouth in 2003, Dave Philistin of Manchester Central in 2004, John Sughrue of Pinkerton Academy in 2005, Mark Spinney of Bishop Guertin in 2006, Londonderry’s Alex Theodhosi in 2007, Nashua South’s David Zocco in 2008 and Steven Jellison of Souhegan in 2009.

This year’s finalists will be featured on “The Home Team,” WGAM’s local afternoon talk show, which will be broadcast live from the Hilton Garden between 5-6pm on the December 15th. The 2010 finalists are:
• Steve Cronan, Winnacunnet (Sr.)
• Steve Cuipa, Bishop Guertin (Sr.)
• Max Jaques, Salem (Sr.)
• Mike Luks, Souhegan (Sr.)
• Cody Patch, Lebanon, (Sr.)

WGAM’s Mr. Football Award winner and all finalists will once again be awarded beautiful trophies from Burque Jewelers in Nashua.

WGAM has been covering local high school football and sports since 2002. With its “live on the scene” reporting, the station’s Friday Night Lights program is able to deliver scores, interviews and highlights of games across New Hampshire each and every Friday night.
