Not long after scoring 22 points including 2 HUGE threes in the 4th quarter to help lead Bishop Guertin to its first boys basketball title in 28 years, Sean McClung has made a commitment to continue his hoops career at the collegiate level. McClung has recently decided to attend and play basketball at Babson College in Wellesley, MA. Babson is a Division III school which is a member of the highly competitive NEWMAC.
McClung had a terrific career at BG. He played varsity all 4 years, was a 2 time all-state selection, scored 1,000 points and led the Cardinals to the semi-finals as a junior and the D-I state title as a senior. He was also a member of the Granite State Jayhawks AAU team for the last couple of years. The Jayhawks were made of of nearly all NH players and were able to not only compete but win games against some of the top clubs from all around the country. McClung was a key member of the team each of the last 2 years.
The 6'4" wing player has good size and skill set that will benefit him nicely at the college level. He has a nice shooting touch from the outside and isn't afraid to take the big shot. He can handle and shoot the ball very well for a player his size. McClung is also an underrated defender who really competes hard on both ends of the floor. He has good instincts on the court, can fill up the scoring column in a hurry and can also make the extra pass. mcClung also has the size and strength to battle in the paint for boards and score against smaller wings.
Babson finished just 10-15 this past season, but they were a very young team with just 1 senior and 3 juniors on the roster. McClung will be the only NH native on their roster next season, but they are graduating guard Matt Zoia who is a BG alum.
Congrats to Sean, and best of luck to him at Babson!
