ConVal Hires New Boys Basketball Coach

The ConVal Regional boys basketball team has definitely struggled in recent years. They went 3-15 last year, once again missing out on the Division II (Class I) tournament. And this winter they will have their third coach in the last four years.

Former Souhegan High JV coach Pete Pierce has officially been named the team's new coach, replacing John Curran who coached the Cougars for the past two years.

Pierce has been the JV coach at Souhegan for the last 3 years. During that time he had a record of 51-3. That is quite an impressive record. It will be tougher to win games at ConVal though, which doesn't exactly have a winning tradition.

Pierce could have been in luck though, as the player who is quite possibly the best incoming freshman in the state (Ian Sistare) just happens to be from Dublin, which is one of the 9 towns ConVal serves. He could have been just the player the Cougars need to turn the program around. However, Sistare will instead be attending Trinity High in Manchester.

Taking over for Pierce as Souhegan's boys basketball JV coach will be Mike Boehm, who has served as Mike Heaney's top assistant on the varsity team for the last 4 years.
