The Windham girls basketball team trailed by 10 in the 2nd half and by as many as 13. But they came storming back, and led by Clairee Putnam, Bernadette Connors, Kelsey Schiebel and Kerry White they took a 54-52 lead late in the game.
Just seconds after Putnam made a great drive and and-1 finish, Bedford's Haley Driscoll answered right back with an and-1 of her own to put Bedford back on top. Rachel Collins was 6/6 on free throws in the 4th quarter. She hit some clutch FT's late to ice the game, and finished with a career-high 30 points. Driscoll had 16 points, 15 rebounds and 4 steals, and Bedford won 62-59 In Division II on Wednesday night in Bedford. Putnam, Collins and Driscoll are all only sophomores.
It was a great game between 2 good, evenly matched teams. Windham just beat Bedford a couple weeks ago in the Nashua North Holiday Tournament championship game, but Bedford got revenge tonight. The Bulldogs got the win even though they were playing without 6'1" sophomore forward McKenzie Brown, who is out for a couple more weeks with an ankle injury.
