Senior guard Amandra Purcell and freshman guard Deanna Purcell have been making headlines this winter for the Rivier College women's basketball team. The 2 sisters are not only leading the 2 lesding scorers on the team, but they have led Rivier to a 15-6 record (9-1 in GNAC conference play).
On Saturday afternoon the Purcell sisters and their teammates took on Simmons College. It was Family Day at Rivier. Amandra had recently eclipsed the 1,000th point mark, and in this game she hit 6 threes in the 1st half (8 for the game) en route to a game-high 26 points. Deanna dropped 22 points in the win.
Here's an interesting note. There were 4 players who played 30 minutes or more in this game - all 4 of them are from New Hampshire. There were the Purcell sisters for Rivier of course, and then for Simmons it was the back court duo of freshman Olivia Lacroix (Manchester, NH) who scored a team-high 19 points and Brittany Dolloff (Hollis, NH) who chipped in with 4.
