Spaulding Headed to UNH With OT Win Over North

Dominic Paradis (20 points) went 12/12 from the free throw line, Luke Roberts (14 points) banked in a 3-pointer to tie the game up at 55-55 and send it to overtime and Connor Noe came off the bench to score 20 points including a 3-pointer in OT to put Spaulding up 61-55. They held on from there for a thrilling 71-65 overtime win over Nashua North on Sunday night in the Division I boys basketball quarterfinals.

North led 26-16 in the 2nd quarter but Spaulding ended the 1st half on a 7-0 run to cut the lead to 26-24. After a layup by Noe they re-took the lead 37-36. Anthony Farmer (15 points) answered right back with a three to put the Titans back on top 39-37. North kept the lead until the final seconds when Roberts hit the three to send it to OT.

A key point in the 2nd half came when the game really started to get physical, and both teams were flat out decking each other out there. Finally the officials blew the whistle to try and take control of the game and a technical foul was called on North for shoving a Spaulding player to the floor. Paradis made both free throws, then Noe hit a three and just like that North went from being up 47-40 to now only being up 47-45.

"We didn't make enough shots, Spaulding did so they deserve to win" said Nashua North head coach Steve Lane, who is in his first year with the program. "We had a couple gets kid suspended early in the year and since then our team has really grown up a lot. I couldn't ask for a better senior group than these 9 kids."

Spaulding now moves on to the D-I semis at UNH on Tuesday night where they will take on #7 seed Merrimack. The other semi-final is #1 seed Trinity vs. #4 Manchester Central.

The Red Raiders pull off the big win just 2 nights after their bus got hit by a tractor trailer on the highway on the way to Nashua, as this game was actually supposed to be played Friday night. It was a scary moment for the team, especially for Noe who had to be taken to the hospital that night. Thankfully the kids are okay, and they showed a lot of character by coming back from that to go on the road and beat a VERY good Nashua North team.
