2012 NHIAA Football Season Preview

Football season is finally here! Teams across the state kick off their opening games on Friday night and the rest will play on Saturday afternoon. This article concludes our preseason coverage here on the NH Notebook, and over the weekend we will have 4 games covered for you, with 4 different divisions being covered. Here we will go around to each of the 6 divisions, recap our preseason coverage of that division and also make championship game and Player of the Year Predictions.

Before we get to all of that there's a couple other things I wanted to make not of. First off, the NH Notebook joins the Stevens High football community in lamenting the loss of former Stevens assistant coach Aaron Robar. Robar (pictured above) was tragically killed in a motorcycle accident last week, and our thoughts and prayers go out to his family. The Cardinals will certainly be playing this season with heavy hearts and we wish them the best of luck.

Secondly, while we mainly cover NHIAA football here on the NH Notebook it is also important to recognize the local kids who are playing for prep schools. These players include Andrew Crane and Chris Garrison (both at Lawrence Academy), Matt Dean (New Hampton), Jerickson Fedrick (Choate Rosemary School), Brad Tiernan (Cushing Academy), Brennan Giles (Phillips Exeter) and Tate Jozokos (Governor's Academy).

Now on with the season preview, and let's get ready for some football!

A few other notes before we look at each division...
this will be the last year the NHIAA will have 6 divisions for football. click here to get my take on the new system.

The player to really watch out for in the NHIAA in 2012 is Jake Kennedy. The 6-foot-4, 280 lbs. lineman is an absolute beast and has a whopping 7 Division I scholarship offers to choose from (Fordham, Rhode Island, UMass, UNH, Maine, Holy Cross and Colgate). The only other NHIAA player with a D-I offer is Exeter kicker Logan Laurent, who has been offered a full scholarship by UNH.
