There definitely wasn't as much drama in this game as there was in the Central Catholic vs. St. John's Prep boys game. The Central girls dominated right from the beginning in their semi-final match up with Auburn High, and cruised to a 70-43 blowout victory.
Auburn had no size, and simply could not match up with Central's 2 6-footers (Casey cMalughlin and Amanda Williams). Williams had 17 points to lead the team, while McLaughlin had 14. Both players had over 10 rebounds. Sarah Palace led Auburn with a game-high 24 points. She is very good, but just didn't have enough help against a very good Central team.
Central has 4 players in their rotation from New Hampshire, including 2 starters. The 2 starters are 5-foot-7 junior guard Courtney Walsh (Windham, NH), and 5-foot-2 junior guard Alex Nagri (Salem, NH). Walsh recently received a scholarship offer from Stonehill College, and had 6 points in the win. Walsh is the quintessential all-around player, she plays tough defense, is fundamentally sound and has a smooth pull-up jumper. Nagri is a small but quick guard who can shoot, handle the ball and defend. She ahd 11 points on the game.
Also playing well for Central were 6-foot-2 sophomore forward Erica Hadad and 5-foot-8 freshman wing Madison Borrelli (both from Salem, NH). The Central girls will take on Pentucket on Monday night in the tourney's championship game.
