Nashua South wins the Chick-fil-A Holiday Tournament for the third straight year. The Panthers defeated the Alvirne Broncos 61-59 with an incredible buzzer beater. With just 19 seconds left Yordy Tavarez dribbled the ball towards the three point line. He took his shot with around 10 second remaining and it bounced down to the left of the hoop. There was a mad scramble for the ball and Trevor Knight came out of it just in time to put the ball of glass and in as the buzzer sounded. The South fans swarmed the court and engulfed Knight as the celebrated.
After close wins over Hollis-Brookline and Thornton Academy it was Alvirne who proved to be the toughest foe for the Panthers. Tournament organizer Kevin Flynn said, “This will be a final we remember for a long time.”
After the victory the All Tournament Team was announced. Winning the honors this year were Jordan Lates from Nashua North, Quinn Richardson-Newton from Thornton Academy, Tyler Brown from Alvirne, and both Trevor Knight and Yordy Tavarez from Nashua South.
This really was a great way to cap of the tournament. I’m looking forward to some great games next year.
