Portsmouth High junior point guard Libby Underwood has committed to play ball at Providence College. Providence is a Division I program that competes in the Big East Conference. Underwood is a 5-foot-8 lefty, is strong with the basketball in her hands and has a killer pull-up jumper which she can hit in the mid-range area or from beyond the arc. She's a hard worker and a tough competitor. She has still put up impressive scoring numbers at Portsmouth, despite facing defenses which are geared towards stopping her.
Underwood is already the second local girls basketball player from the Class of 2017 to commit to a high-major program. The other is Rebecca Ripley (Stratham, NH) a wing from the New Hampton School who committed to Miami over the summer.
