Statewide Football Top 10 Teams - End of Season

It's been a great season of high school football here in NH. Congratulations to Goffstown, St. Thomas and Newport for their undefeated championship seasons - a tremendous achievement. Here's a look at our final, end-of-season statewide top 10 football rankings.

1. Goffstown
2. Bedford
3. Exeter
4. Pinkerton
5. Salem
6. Timberlane
7. St. Thomas
8. Winnacunnet
9. Bishop Guertin
10. Windham

Now, here's why we ranked the teams in that order...

1. Goffstown - No doubt who the #1 team in the state is. Goffstown goes undefeated in D-I.

2. Bedford - Bedford's only 2 losses came to #1 ranked Goffstown, and the Bulldogs played Goffstown much tougher than Exeter did.

3. Exeter - Exeter advanced to the D-I title game. There's no way they can be ranked lower than #3.

4. Pinkerton - Pinkerton advanced to the D-I semis. A strong season in a very competitive D-I. Fans will be left wondering how good they would have been if TJ Urbanik (state's top RB) was healthy and if Bryson Pacocha (arguably the state's top lineman) didn't leave for prep school.

5. Salem - Salem and Timberlane both end season with same record. They both got bounced in round 1 of playoffs (barely). Salem gets the nod for the #5 spot, because they beat Timberlane head-to-head.

6. Timberlane - see Salem.

7. St. Thomas - We'll never know how they would have done in D-I, but what we do know is they had a great season by going undefeated.

8. Winnacunnet - the Warriors get the slight nod over BG, since they beat a team that finished in the end-of-season top 10, whereas BG did not.

9. Bishop Guertin - as good of an offense as anybody in NH.

10. Windham - The Jaguars gave it all they had in the finals vs. St. Thomas, coming up just short. To keep the Saints offense out of the end zone is especially impressive. 2 Thanksgiving games we'd like to see - Salem vs. Windham and Winnacunnet vs. St. Thomas.
